Tax Season - How to avoid fraud?

I received a call the other day from a blocked phone number from someone at the "IRS". They had a question about my tax return and just had a few questions before they could process the refund. I'm sure you can predict some of the problems with this call. First, the IRS does not call you randomly on a Friday afternoon. They will send you a letter but a call is unlikely. Second, I had not filed my return yet so there was nothing to have a question about. And third, I have not received a refund in years. With tax season comes tax scammers but with a little diligence you can avoid being a victim.
